What if we didn’t need a painter to create art, but merely a team of passionate art historians and technicians?
Never has a painting raised so many issues and feelings. This experiment involving 148 billion pixels and 13 layers of UV ink – is it art? Art that didn’t involve blood, sweat or tears – is it still art? Or is it something else, something new entirely: the first creative expression of some sort of artificial intelligence, perhaps?
In The Next Rembrandt, Juliette Stevens alternates philosophical questions with fascinating technology topics, jumping from the world of algorithms and big data to the realm of art and creativity – and back again.
The case film received 16 awards at the Cannes Lions International Festival 2016, including 2 prestigious Grand Prix. The 25-minute documentary opened the InScience Film Festival in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and was screened at various film festivals around the world. It won the “best medium length film” award during the Arte Non Stop Festival in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“Symmetry Unravelled” is the accompanying documentary of dance-opera film “Symmetry” about the collision of art and science in the world’s largest machine at CERN. Complementing the dance-opera film, a common curiosity at the crux of man’s fascination with the unknown is revealed.
“Symmetry” is a dance-opera film shot inside CERN, the largest experimental particle physics facility in the world. With the cathedral-like majesty of the Large Hadron Collider as his theatre, a modern physicist searches for the smallest primordial particle and discovers a love without end.
The documentary (and opera film) were broadcasted on the “Uur van de Wolf” (NTR) and became the opening films of CineGLobe Cern film festival in Geneva. Together with the dance-opera film, the documentary was shown for two years on various international TV and film festivals and can now be viewed worldwide via iTunes in 8 different languages.

The Netherlands has more than 115,000 mentally disabled people.
“They are difficult, what should we do with them?” Is the generally prevailing idea in society according to Jolita Klepper, team manager of day center De Beemster when she talks about her clients. “I recently heard a politician say on TV about the day's activities; "They just mess around". Wellbeing, you have to fight for that in 2013. Our clients are on the edge of society. If they want to be involved, we have to change ourselves. "
We made a filmportrait about life and wellbeing at the Beemster, a day care center at the Cordaan care institution where mentally handicapped people spend time with each other on weekdays. While we see team manager Klepper struggling financially due to increasing governments budget cuts, the clients do all kinds of activities under the guidance of dedicated employees. To bring the clients from the Beemster more in contact with the neighborhood, they work together with pupils from group 8 of the Amstelmeerschool on the stage pieces for their final musical.

Imagine you’re in eighth grade and your teacher thinks BIG in terms of your closing musical. If on top of that your teacher turns out to be called Helma you’re in good hands. The pupils are nervously preparing themselves - for their exams – and for the musical The Wiz, of which the prevailing message ‘believe in yourself’ echoes on into the classroom. In one of the poorer areas of Amsterdam-Noord the children sing with singer Mathilde Santing, they receive acting classes from Mohammed Chaara and also the Mayor visits their school. Wizkids is about the conclusion of an important phase in life and about doing things you wouldn’t normally dare to do. All the stops are pulled out to allow the children to show what they’ve got to offer. If you really want it you can do it!
Wizkids was broadcasted in the fall of 2013 on Dutch public tv network NCRV / Zapp.
